Stortinget lies in the heart of Oslo and was built in 1866. The architect was Swedish - Emil Victor Langlet. There had been a competition which had already been won by architects Schirmer and von Hanno when Langlet's contribution finally arrived (he was in Italy when the competition was announced) but his sketch proved so popular that he became the architect of the Parliament Building after all.
