Ruins of St. Olav's Monastery
Memorial Park Gamlebyen.
St. Olav's Monastery was built during the last half of the 13th century by Dominican friars and was one of the very first buildings in Norway made of brick. The friars stayed at the monastery until the Reformation in 1537. About ten years later parts of the buildings became the episcopal mansion of the bishop of Oslo and stayed so until about 1880.
